How do I make a pledge?
Click on the amount of money you’d like to back the business and click on “Back This Restaurant” or “Back This…[whatever]” the button says at the bottom. You’ll be taken through a series of procedural steps managed by Amazon.com. In other words, it’s almost the exact same as buying something on Amazon except that you’re credit card won’t be charged until the business has reached its pledge goal.
Do I need an Amazon.com account?
When will my card be charged?
Your card won’t be charged until the business has reached its pledge goal. So, say, a food truck needs $15,000 to lease a new truck. If they just get $12,000 in pledges before the deadline is reached, then the campaign ends without your card ever being charged. If they reach (or exceed) their $15,000 goal, then your card will be charged.
How do I redeem my perks?
It’s easy. About a week after a campaign ends – assuming it’s met its funding goal – you will receive a personalized Backer Card in the mail. This will have your name on it and the level you backed the business at (i.e. “funder” or “proprietor”). When you go to the business, present your card when you arrive so they know what cool perks to send your way.
If that feels too old fashioned, we also have a nifty smartphone. Just download here, then use it to redeem perks by flashing your server (so to speak).
